THE INCOME TAX AND FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANCY & AUDITING ASSOCIATION (IFAA)

During the year Prof. Kevin Miranda and Prof. Seema Khurana provided career guidance in the subject of Accountancy to S.Y. & T.Y. B.Com. students, and in the subject of Direct & Indirect Tax to T.Y.B.Com. students.

9 September 2008:
A seminar was organized for the students of S.Y.B.Com in the conference room. About 150 students attended the seminar. Prof. Kevin Miranda spoke on income from salaries and income from business. The students were made aware about the importance of the subject and the taxability of the income from these two sources. The programme was initiated by Prof. Kevin Miranda and co-ordinated by Prof. Seema Khurana.

2 & 3 December 2008:
On these two days we had representatives from www.NSETODAY.com of Nathani Investments to address our students on Indian Financial Markets & Commodities. Mr. Ravi Nathani, a Stock Broker spoke to students on various aspects of stock market. He explained to students what the Stock Market was all about and dealt with various topics like the different market segments, market sectors, the BSE, NSE, Brokerage & Taxes, Types of trading, Commodities Markets, Small-cap, Mid –cap, and the procedure for picking up scrips for investments. He also gave the students a live demonstration of the trading activity in the stock market. The seminar concluded with a question and answer session. Around 200 students benefited from this seminar.

1 J2anuary 2009:
The representatives of the Institute of Companies Secretaries of India conducted a seminar for our students on Career Opportunities in Company Secretary. Mr. RajKumar Tiwari, a Company Secretary informed the students about the various aspects to consider for this profession, such as the eligibility criteria, the subjects offered, the duration of the course, the criteria for passing, the course fees, the stipend offered etc.. He also enlightened students on the employment opportunities available after qualifying as a Company Secretary. The seminar was attended by 60 students which ended with an interactive question and answer session.

20 February 2009:
The representatives of IL&FS Investsmart-India’s Financial Multiplex spoke to our students on Opportunities of Earning while Learning. The 53 students who attended this talk were informed about different assignments they could take up as well as the amount they could earn every month for those projects. The representatives of the company also said that they were willing to absorb students who were found to be good and provide them with work experience certificates that at the end of the course/ job.
