We wish to put on record our thanks to Fr. Warner D’Souza (Secretary, CPPAHPC) and Dr. Fleur D’Souza, (Vice Principal,St. Xavier’s College Mumbai) for inviting us to join this project. Many thanks also to Mr. David Cardoz, the Heras Institute of Ancient Indian Culture and the parish fathers and communities for assisting our students.
Highlights:1.Field Trips: Two Field trips were conducted by the History Association. These included visits to the Bhaudaji Lad Museum, Byculla, the first oldest museum in Mumbai, Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum and the Discovery of India. Students also had an opportunity to observe the Art Deco architecture at Marine Drive, the Army Navy Building, the David Sassoon Library and Eliphinstone College.
2.Film Screenings are used to enhance learning and particularly to develop a greater understanding of Historical background and circumstances. Thus the acclaimed films Gandhi, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Tora Tora Tora and Bridge on the River Kwai were screened.
3.The TYBA History students organized a Christmas lunch with games and gifts. This Christmas fellowship has become an annual feature of the History Department for the last 8 years.
