JHANKAAR

If you think of dance in St. Andrew’s, there’s only one thing that comes to your mind, and that is ‘Jhankaar’ – the inter-collegiate dance festival, which gives a chance to many dancers to showcase their dancing skills.

Jhankaar was held on the 29th of August, 2008 in the auditorium, and had participants from 12 colleges across Mumbai. This year Jhankaar combined the authenticity of Indian Folk along with the jhatkaas of Bollywood and the vibes of Hollywood through scintillating performances in these categories. It commenced with a prayer dance and was followed by an opening dance that rocked the auditorium. In addition to foot- tapping music, jhankaar regaled its audience with mimicry items, spoofs and songs as part of the fillers between the performances.

The judges for the show were Tobby Fernandes, Jai Kumar, Danny and Gautam Pawar who are well known for their choreography on hit dance shows like Jhalak Dikhjaja, Boogie Woogie and Eka Peksha Ek. They also performed for the crowd, tapping their feet to salsa and danced to popular Bollywood numbers.
The winners in all the 3 categories are as follows :-
