Dr. Fernandes is a recognized Research Guide for Ph.D. by the University of Mumbai.
- Successfully guided Ms. Ahalya Samtaney, Senior lecturer and Head of Department of English, H.R. College with her Ph.D thesis, Eve Unbound: The Emerging Female Identity in a Globalised, Urban India. The University of Mumbai has declared her eligible for the said degree on 9 April 2009.
